We collect the minimum amount of data needed to run the app — nothing more. This policy covers both the iOS app on the App Store and the Android app on Google Play. Everything below is what's actually happening, in plain language.
A handful of things, and only when we genuinely need them:
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Device identifier | Always (per install) | On iOS this is Apple's per-vendor IDFV; on Android it's a UUID the app generates on first launch and stores in encrypted preferences. Lets our audio server know your install is licensed when you fetch an ayah. Reset by reinstalling the app. |
| Email address | If you sign in with Apple or Google | Identifies your account so we can restore your subscription across devices. We never email you marketing. |
| App Store / Play Store subscription receipt | If you subscribe | Verifies your entitlement with the store. We don't store receipts ourselves — Apple's StoreKit and Google Play Billing handle them. |
| Activation code record | If you redeem a code | The redeemed code, your device identifier, and the resulting tier are stored so we can confirm your activation on subsequent app launches and across reinstalls. Codes are short-lived secrets we generate; they aren't tied to your real-world identity. |
| Tasmi Tracker session metadata (iOS, Pro, opt-in) | If you use Tasmi Tracker | Tasmi Tracker is an opt-in Pro feature on iOS that logs your recitation practice sessions for review by you or a teacher you've explicitly invited. We record only the session metadata — surah and ayah range, date, your numeric session score, the grader's role (self / teacher / parent), and the per-ayah grading slots. We do not record any audio, do not request microphone permission, and do not transmit your voice. Teachers see only the metadata you grade and any text notes you add. |
Your device identifier is sent with every audio request so our server can confirm your install is allowed to download the file. Your email (if you signed in) is stored in our subscription database so a fresh install can restore your access. Your activation code record lets you re-activate after a reinstall without re-redeeming. Your Tasmi recordings stay private to you and your invited teacher.
We don't profile you, segment you, or build analytics dashboards from your behaviour. Your practice habits belong to you.
We use a small set of well-known infrastructure providers. Each one sees only what it needs to do its job.
If you uninstall the app, your device identifier becomes orphaned in our database (no longer tied to an active install). If you'd like us to delete it explicitly, along with any associated subscription record and Tasmi recordings, email us at the address below and we'll do it within 30 days.
For Sign in with Apple users, you can revoke our access entirely from Settings → Apple ID → Sign-in with Apple → Hifz Musaa'id → Stop using Apple ID. This unlinks your email immediately on the Apple side; email us to confirm full server-side deletion.
For Sign in with Google users, you can revoke our access at myaccount.google.com/permissions → Hifz Musaa'id → Remove Access. Email us afterward if you'd like the server-side record deleted too.
Tasmi recordings can be deleted at any time from inside the app: Khaza'in → Tasmi Tracker → tap the recording → Delete. Deletion is immediate on our server.
Hifz Musaa'id doesn't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store and rated Everyone on Google Play, and it contains no advertising or social features. Parents who want to manage their child's subscription can use Apple Family Sharing on iOS or Google Family Link on Android.
Our backend runs on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your data is transferred to and processed in the US under standard contractual clauses. The audio CDN is geo-distributed; your audio requests are served from the edge location closest to you, but the account database lives in the US.
If we make a material change to this policy, the next app update's release notes will mention it on both platforms. The version date below tells you when this page was last revised.
